PART 2: THE MESSAGE ON THE TABLET
I thought that the moment I saw that message… my heart would break.
But it didn’t.

The tablet my husband had left behind was still glowing on the table. At first, I only wanted to turn it off because I believed it was his private business.

“My love, this trip to Manhattan will change everything. Once I finish dealing with her, we won’t have to hide anymore.”
My hands started shaking.

I didn’t need to read more to know who he meant.

The wife who had waited for him for eight years.
The woman who gave up her own career to take care of our family.

I saw the photos they had taken together.
The expensive dinners.

I stared at the screen and laughed.
A laugh that didn’t even sound like my own.
He was right about one thing.
I had trusted him.

“Manhattan Plan.”
I opened it.
