PART 11 — THE PERSON WHO STOLE JULIAN’S PAST
Nobody spoke after Andrew’s final sentence.
“It came from family.”
Those words remained in the air.
Heavy.
Painful.
Impossible to ignore.
Julian stood completely still.
His eyes were fixed on Andrew.
“Say it.”
His voice was calm.
Too calm.
Everyone in the room knew that kind of silence.
It was the silence before something broke.
“Who was it?”
Andrew looked at him.
For a moment, I thought he would refuse.
I thought he would protect another secret.
Another person.
Another lie.
But then he finally answered.
“Your father.”
The room exploded.
Not with noise.
With shock.
Julian’s expression changed completely.
“My father?”
Andrew nodded slowly.
“Yes.”
“No.”
Julian immediately shook his head.
“No, that’s impossible.”
His voice became louder.
“My father loved my mother.”
Andrew didn’t deny it.
“He did.”
“Then why?”
That question came from somewhere deeper than anger.
It came from a child who had spent his entire life trying to understand why he was abandoned.
“Why would he take her away from me?”
Andrew looked at him.
“Because he believed he had no choice.”
Julian laughed bitterly.
“Everyone always says that.”
He looked around the room.
“Everyone who hurts someone always says they had no choice.”
I felt those words.
Because I remembered all the times Julian had explained his own decisions.
All the reasons.
All the excuses.
And now he was standing in front of a truth he could not escape.
Andrew opened another file.
“Your father discovered something about your mother.”
Julian stared.
“What?”
“She was planning to leave.”
The room became silent.
Julian frowned.
“Leave?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Andrew hesitated.
“Because she discovered what your grandfather had done.”
“What did he do?”
Andrew looked at the documents.
“Your grandfather built the Whitmore empire through secrets.”
He placed a paper on the table.
“Illegal deals.”
Another page.
“Hidden accounts.”
Another.
“People who disappeared after threatening to expose him.”
The room went quiet.
Julian stared at the papers.
“My grandfather was a criminal?”
Andrew nodded slightly.
“Not everything was proven.”
“But your mother found enough evidence to destroy everything.”
Julian’s face changed.
“So she wanted to expose him?”
“Yes.”
“And my father stopped her?”
Andrew looked down.
“Yes.”
The word felt like a knife.
Julian stepped back.
“No.”
His voice became softer.
“No, my father wouldn’t do that.”
I watched him struggle.
Because believing his father was innocent was easier than accepting the truth.
Even after everything.
Even after years.
A part of him still wanted to protect the man who raised him.
Andrew spoke quietly.
“Your father loved your mother.”
“Then why?”
“Because he loved you more.”
Julian looked confused.
“What?”
“Your mother wanted to reveal everything. She wanted to destroy the Whitmore name.”
Andrew looked at him.
“Your father was afraid.”
“Afraid of what?”
“That you would lose everything.”
Julian stared.
“I was a child.”
“Yes.”
Andrew’s voice became heavier.
“That’s why he made the decision for you.”
A painful silence followed.
I looked at Julian.
I could see the battle inside him.
The anger.
The sadness.
The confusion.
Everything he had believed was being torn apart.
“But my mother…”
His voice shook.
“She tried to come back?”
Andrew nodded.
“Many times.”
Julian froze.
“Many times?”
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t I know?”
Andrew didn’t answer.
He didn’t need to.
Because the answer was already obvious.
Someone stopped her.
Someone erased the messages.
Someone blocked every path between them.
Julian closed his eyes.
And for the first time, I saw tears forming.
Not from weakness.
From years of pain finally finding a way out.
“My whole life…”
He whispered.
“My whole life I thought she left me.”
Nobody moved.
“I hated her.”
His voice broke.
“I thought she chose another life over me.”
He looked at the photograph.
“But she was trying to find me.”
I felt tears in my own eyes.
Because I understood that feeling.
The pain of believing someone didn’t choose you.
The pain of building anger around an empty space.
Andrew looked at him.
“There is something else.”
Julian looked up.
“What else could there possibly be?”
Andrew reached into the folder.
He pulled out an old letter.
“This.”
Julian stared.
“From who?”
Andrew handed it to him.
“Your mother.”
His hands immediately shook.
For several seconds, he didn’t open it.
Like he was afraid.
Afraid of what the words would say.
Afraid of discovering another truth.
Afraid that even after all these years…
He would lose her again.
Finally, he opened it.
The first line made his entire body freeze.
“My dear Julian, if you are reading this, then someone finally allowed you to know the truth.”
Julian stopped breathing.
I watched his eyes move across the page.
Then his expression changed.
The sadness disappeared.
Replaced by fear.
“What?”
I stepped closer.
“Julian?”
He looked at me.
His face was pale.
“She knew.”
“Knew what?”
He looked back at the letter.
“She knew someone would try to hide the truth.”
Andrew became tense.
“What does she say?”
Julian continued reading.
Then his hands began trembling.
Slowly, he lowered the letter.
“She wrote that my father wasn’t the only person involved.”
The room became silent.
“What does that mean?” I asked.
Julian looked at Andrew.
Then at Victoria.
Then at everyone around him.
And finally, he whispered:
“My mother knew who was really controlling everything.”
Nobody moved.
Because that meant the truth was bigger than Julian’s father.
Bigger than the Whitmore family.
Bigger than the secrets buried for decades.
Someone else had been pulling the strings.
Someone who had remained hidden.
Someone who had watched Julian’s entire life unfold.
Andrew looked toward the cameras.
Then he said the words that changed everything.
“The person your mother feared most…”
A pause.
“Is the same person who brought Victoria into your life.”
The room went silent.
Because suddenly the past and the present connected.
Victoria wasn’t the beginning of the betrayal.
She was only a piece of a much larger plan.
And now…
We had to discover who was behind it.
