FIVE MINUTES AFTER I SIGNED THE DIVORCE PAPER

Before anyone could say another word, Marcus's phone rang again.

This time, it was the chairman of the board.

As soon as Marcus answered, an icy voice came through.

"Marcus, where are you?"

"...At the hospital."

"Come to headquarters immediately. We've just uncovered something you've kept hidden for years."

Marcus swallowed hard.

"What are you talking about?"

"You'll find out when you get here."

The line went dead.

A terrible feeling settled over him.

...

Thirty minutes later...

Every member of the Henderson Group's board of directors was gathered in the boardroom.

The moment Marcus walked in, a thick folder was thrown onto the table in front of him.

"Care to explain this?"

With trembling hands, Marcus opened the file.

Within seconds, all the color drained from his face.

Every ownership document carried his signature...

But the legal owner was not Marcus Henderson.

It was...

Julianne Henderson.

"No... That's impossible," he stammered.

The chief attorney remained calm.

"Before your marriage, Julianne's father established a family trust. Under the trust agreement, every asset purchased during your marriage belongs to that trust, and Julianne is its sole legal beneficiary."

Marcus froze.

His mind raced back over the past twelve years.

The luxury penthouse.

The Mercedes.

The vacation villa.

Even the eighteen percent stake in Henderson Group that he had always been so proud of...

Every single one of them had been paid for by Julianne's family trust.

He had never truly owned any of it.

The chairman continued.

"And there's something else."

He placed a sealed envelope on the table.

"Three days before the divorce, Julianne officially revoked every power of attorney she had ever granted you."

Marcus opened the envelope with shaking hands.

Inside was a single sheet of paper.

"Effective at 10:03 a.m. on the day the divorce is finalized, Marcus Henderson shall have no authority to manage, use, or represent any assets belonging to the Henderson Family Trust."

10:03 a.m.

The exact moment he had proudly signed the divorce papers.

The moment he believed he had won.

Suddenly, the chairman's phone rang.

After listening for a few seconds, he looked directly at Marcus.

"Julianne has just landed."

Marcus looked up in shock.

"Where?"

"In Switzerland."

"And she has officially taken over her family's investment empire, valued at more than five billion dollars."

The chairman paused before adding,

"And you..."

"...from this day forward, you are simply a man who has lost his wife, his wealth, his status... and perhaps even the Henderson name."

Marcus stood there speechless.

For the first time in his life, he realized...

The woman he had dismissed as nothing more than an ordinary housewife...

Had never been the powerless one.

To be continued...
