PART 2
Two weeks later, Olivia came home without telling anyone.
She opened the front door...
And froze.
The locks had been changed.
Daniel stepped outside and said coldly,
"Emily needs peace. Stay somewhere else for now."
Olivia smiled calmly.
"Are you sure?"
She handed him a single envelope.
Inside was a legal notice.
The house had been purchased entirely with Olivia's savings before the marriage.
Daniel's face turned white.
"You... own this house?"
Olivia nodded.
"I gave up my bedroom because I was kind."
She looked at all three of them.
"But now... all of you have 48 hours to leave."
Daniel stared at the document as though it had suddenly turned into a snake.
His fingers trembled.
"This... this has to be a joke."
"It isn't."
Olivia stood on the front porch with the same calm expression she had worn the day she packed her suitcase.
"The title deed is in my name."
Margaret rushed over and snatched the papers from her son's hands.
She skimmed the first page.
Then another.
The confidence on her face slowly disappeared.
"This says..." she whispered.
"...the property was purchased eight months before your wedding."
Olivia nodded.
"With my savings."
Emily, still holding little Sophie, frowned.
"But Daniel said you bought it together."
Olivia finally looked at her sister-in-law.
"I never said that."
Silence settled over the doorway.
Daniel swallowed hard.
"Olivia... listen..."
"No."
She raised one hand.
"For weeks, none of you wanted to hear me."
"Now it's my turn to speak."
She stepped inside without asking permission.
Technically...
She didn't need permission.
It was still her house.
The living room looked completely different.
The cream-colored couch where she had spent that miserable night was now covered with baby blankets.
Her framed wedding photo had disappeared from the wall.
In its place hung dozens of pictures of Emily and the baby.
Even the shelves she had carefully decorated had been rearranged.
It no longer felt like her home.
It felt like she was visiting someone else's house.
Margaret followed behind her.
"We weren't trying to replace you."
"Weren't you?"
Olivia pointed toward the wall.
"My wedding picture."
Nobody answered.
She walked toward the master bedroom.
Daniel instinctively stepped in front of the door.
"You can't go in there."
Olivia almost laughed.
"I can't enter my own bedroom?"
Emily quickly spoke.
"The baby's sleeping."
Olivia looked at her for several long seconds.
"I'll wait."
Nobody moved.
Finally Daniel stepped aside.
Olivia opened the bedroom door.
Her heart sank.
Every trace of her had vanished.
Her clothes.
Her books.
The perfume bottles she had collected over the years.
Even the painting her late father had given her after graduating from university.
Gone.
"What happened to my things?"
Daniel rubbed the back of his neck.
"We packed everything."
"Where?"
"The garage."
"The garage?"
She repeated the words quietly.
"My father's painting is in the garage?"
Margaret tried to explain.
"We needed space."
Olivia slowly closed her eyes.
That painting had been the last birthday gift from her father before cancer took his life.
She had told Daniel that story dozens of times.
He knew exactly how precious it was.
Yet he had placed it in a dusty garage without a second thought.
She walked outside.
The garage door creaked open.
Cardboard boxes were stacked carelessly against the wall.
Several had collapsed because of moisture.
She immediately spotted the painting.
The corner of the canvas had been bent.
Water stains covered the wooden frame.
Olivia gently picked it up.
For the first time in weeks...
Her hands shook.
Daniel hurried after her.
"I didn't know the roof leaked."
"You didn't check."
"I'm sorry."
She looked directly into his eyes.
"No."
"You're sorry because I found out."
Another painful silence.
Just then...
A black sedan stopped outside the gate.
A man in a navy suit stepped out carrying a leather briefcase.
"Ms. Bennett?"
Olivia nodded.
"Perfect timing."
Daniel frowned.
"Who is he?"
The man handed Olivia another folder.
"I'm Michael Chen, your attorney."
Attorney?
Emily's eyes widened.
Margaret's face instantly turned pale.
Michael calmly addressed everyone.
"As stated in the legal notice, the occupants have forty-eight hours to vacate the property."
"If they refuse, eviction proceedings will begin immediately."
Daniel laughed nervously.
"Come on... we're husband and wife."
"This is a misunderstanding."
Michael didn't react.
"Mr. Carter."
He opened another document.
"There is one additional matter."
Daniel's smile disappeared.
"What matter?"
"Mrs. Bennett has also filed for divorce."
The words echoed through the quiet house.
Emily gasped.
Margaret grabbed the edge of the table to steady herself.
Daniel looked as if all the air had left his body.
"...Divorce?"
He turned to Olivia.
"You never said anything."
"You never asked."
"I thought you were just angry."
Olivia shook her head.
"No."
"I was finished."
He stepped toward her.
"We can fix this."
"Can we?"
She tilted her head slightly.
"When I slept on that couch..."
"When you gave away my office..."
"When you let someone else move into my bedroom..."
"Which one of those moments were you planning to fix?"
Daniel opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
She continued quietly.
"I kept waiting for my husband to remember that I was his wife."
"He never did."
Instead...
He remembered to buy pink baby bottles.
Fresh fish every morning.
Extra pillows.
Night lights.
Anything Emily wanted.
Everything except the woman he married.
A tiny cry suddenly broke the silence.
Baby Sophie had started crying.
Emily instinctively rocked her daughter.
For the first time, guilt filled her eyes.
She looked at Olivia.
"I..."
"I'm sorry."
"I thought you agreed because you truly didn't mind."
Olivia smiled sadly.
"Kindness should never be mistaken for permission."
Emily lowered her head.
Tears quietly rolled down her cheeks.
Margaret finally whispered,
"Olivia..."
"Please don't destroy this family."
Olivia looked around the house one last time.
Then she answered with a calm voice that stunned everyone.
"I didn't destroy it."
"You simply treated me like I no longer belonged here."
She picked up her father's damaged painting.
Turned toward the door.
And walked away without looking back.
Behind her, Daniel suddenly dropped to his knees.
But this time...
Olivia never stopped walking.
